Description

A lovely little oil painting by Ronald Morgan RBA of The River Thames at Wapping with the City of London in silhouette in the background. This is a small, moody painting which is typical of Morgan’s impressionist style with a stippled effect to both the sky and the water. Signed to the bottom right hand corner and dated 1989, it is framed in a delightfully detailed and coloured frame with fluting to the wood surround. The frame measures 33 x 28 cm (13″ x 11″) with the painting itself being 24 x 19 cm (9.5″ x 7.5″).

Born in 1936 in Landywood, Staffordshire, at 15 years of age Morgan went to The Walsall School of Art and upon leaving college became a junior draughtsman but continued to paint as a hobby. He joined the Walsall Society of Artists and sent a number of paintings for consideration by The Royal Academy for exhibition not expecting anything but one of his paintings was accepted and exhibited. He has exhibited many works over the years at The Royal Academy and eventually moved to the East End of London where he has lived for nearly 50 years. He became a member of The Royal Society of British Artists,  The Royal Institute of Painters in Oil and features in “Who’s Who In Art”
