Description

An idyllic little watercolour of Polperro by renowned Cornish artist T H Victor, although this has been signed under his pseudonym of W Sands. This is a scene looking down into Polperro harbour from the hills that surround this beautiful little seaside village. It shows a few fishing boats moored up around the harbour walls, with the village houses rising up on the hillside opposite. It is framed glazed and mounted. The frame dimensions are 44 x 31 cm (17″ x 12″) with the painting itself measuring 25 x 12 cm (10″ x 4.5″).

Thomas Herbert Victor (British 1894 -1980). T H Victor was born in Mousehole in Cornwall, went to art school in Penzance and spent his life painting watercolour scenes of Mousehole, Newlyn, Penzance and The Lizard Peninsular. He never left Cornwall but became one of the foremost Cornish watercolour artist of the early to mid 20th century. He also painted under the pseudonym W Sands.
