Description

Stunning Oil On Board of two young girls picking flowers in a meadow under a tree in full white blossom. Painted by the listed Yorkshire artist Tom Durkin. The two girls are beautifully painted and are typical of Durkin’s work. The painting is framed in a heavy gilt frame which is in need of some restoration, hence the price being lower than one would expect for a Durkin painting. The frame measures 66 x 56 cm. The picture itself is 50 x 40 cm.

Tom Durkin was born in Yorkshire in 1928. He studied at Bradford Art College in the 1950s and became known for his beautifully simple style of painting. He moved to Haworth and spent the rest of his days there until his death in 1990.
