This beautiful little watercolour depicts a moorland scene from the top of the hills looking down towards Dartmouth in Devon. Rolling heather covered hills make way to farmers fields with undulating countryside stretching away to the horizon. It is framed, glazed and mounted. The frame measures 41 x 34 cm. The picture measures 25 x 18 cm.
Charles Edward Brittan Jr British 1870 – 1949. Charles Edward Brittan Junior was the son of a famous animal artist who developed his own style and became known as one of the best painters of moorland landscape scenes in the country. His art even attracted Royal approval. He exhibited many times at both The Royal Academy and The Royal Institute.
